Ronaldo is still an active player, now 40 years old, and continues to score for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League and for Portugal. If Chelsea had signed him, his career might have taken a different path.
Silkman claimed that he had negotiated a deal with Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent, which included a 50-50 split of any additional payment above the initial €3.5 million. However, Chelsea declined the offer, and Manchester United eventually signed Ronaldo for €11.5 million after he impressed in a pre-season match.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Ronaldo went on to shine at Manchester United before joining Real Madrid. If he had joined Chelsea, he may not have achieved the same level of success or could have taken a different path in his career.
Silkman also expressed his opinion on Ronaldo's playing style, suggesting that if he were to join a team today, he might struggle to adapt to the changing game. According to Silkman, coaches now prioritize a more direct, passing-based style of play, which could make it difficult for Ronaldo to succeed.
“If Cristiano Ronaldo was entering the game today, he would have to adjust to a more straightforward approach. Coaches are looking for players who can pass the ball rather than show off with tricks and stepovers,” Silkman said.
