Slot said in a post-match interview, "We were hoping for a better result, but also a better performance. Unfortunately, the team's performance was far from what we're used to, even when we're losing. We've had better performances in our losses prior to this game."
When asked what specifically bothered him, Slot mentioned that the team struggled with the basics, such as winning duels and second balls. He acknowledged Brentford's strengths, particularly in winning duels and set pieces.
Slot conceded that this was one of the worst performances he's seen from his team since joining the club.
He said, "Yes, it's up there in terms of losing a game of football in my time here. Normally, when we're down by a goal or two, we've been able to mount a comeback. However, today was different. We had a good moment with Florian Wirtz, but it didn't lead to a goal, and we needed a bit of luck to get back into the game."
"After 30 minutes, Brentford took control of the game with their long throw-ins, set pieces, and other moments where they played well," Slot said. "Please don't focus on what I just said, because they did many things well."
