In a no-holds-barred interview with the club's website, Fullkrug pulled no punches, admitting he was livid about the team's performance after taking the lead.
“I'm seething today, not disappointed, just furious about what we did after scoring,” Fullkrug fumed. “I'm absolutely fuming that we played like this because we had some minutes where we showed what we're capable of against a team like Southampton at home.”
The big man believes there were around 25-30 minutes in the second half where the Hammers showed their quality, creating chances and dominating possession.
“It's not the first time we've scored a goal and... we stop playing football, we stop attacking, we just sink and that's not the way we want to play,” Fullkrug ranted. “When we can play 65 minutes with possession, even if it's not perfect, we try to play with possession, we try to create chances, we try to score and then we score a goal and after that, that's not how it works.”
Fullkrug called for unity and a clear vision, stating that everyone needs to pull in the same direction if the team is to achieve their goals. “We have to find a way to have a togetherness, to have the idea of where we want to go, what we want to do, and the coach is very clear in what he wants,” Fullkrug concluded. “But we have to do it all, and everyone has to do it. It’s just my feelings today.”
