West Ham Secure Back-to-Back Wins Against Burnley - AsianBookie News West Ham Secure Back-to-Back Wins Against Burnley

West Ham United secured back-to-back victories by defeating Burnley 3-2 at home, extending their unbeaten head-to-head record to seven matches. The win marked a successful follow-up to last weekend's victory against Newcastle. The game began with West Ham applying significant pressure, but their early attempts were met with strong resistance from Burnley. The first notable opportunity of the game fell to Burnley, as Kyle Walker's long pass found Quilindschy Hartman, whose cross into the box narrowly missed being converted by Zian Flemming.

It was only a matter of time before West Ham broke through, and they eventually did so 10 minutes before halftime. Lesley Ugochukwu played a crucial role in the build-up, delivering an inch-perfect cross that allowed Flemming to power a header into the corner of the net.

Burnley maintained control of the game for large periods, but their efforts were undone on the stroke of halftime when a short corner routine caught their defense off guard, and Crysencio Summerville's blocked shot fell favorably for Callum Wilson to head home from close range, his seventh goal in five games against Burnley.

The interval may have come at an inopportune time for West Ham, who were just starting to gain momentum before the referee intervened.

The second half was marked by a scarcity of goalmouth action, with changes disrupting the flow of the game at times. However, once both teams settled back into their rhythm, West Ham looked the more threatening, with Summerville hitting the side netting and Jarrod Bowen striking the palms of Martin Dubravka from distance.

Burnley's resistance was eventually broken with around 15 minutes remaining, in somewhat comical circumstances. Lucas Paquetá's curling effort was only palmed back into the danger area by Dubravka, and substitute Tomas Soucek was on hand to bundle the ball home with his midriff.

The third, and decisive, goal was scored in similar fashion, as Soucek's long-range strike was fumbled by Dubravka, and substitute Kyle Walker-Peters bundled in the rebound.

José Cullen did manage to score a late consolation goal, but it was too little, too late, as Burnley fell to a fifth defeat in six away league games this season.
