In a recent interview, Pastorello was asked if he would take Lukaku back to Chelsea if given another chance. He replied, "In hindsight, probably not." Pastorello attributed Lukaku's difficulties at Chelsea to a combination of factors, including his relationship with coach Antonio Conte and the injury he suffered.
Pastorello also mentioned that Lukaku's inclusion in the Ballon d'Or shortlist and his record-breaking transfer from the Italian league were significant factors in the decision to bring him back to Chelsea. However, he believes that the human variables, including the difference in approach between Conte and Lukaku, played a significant role in his struggles at the club.
When asked if Lukaku could have signed with Real Madrid, Pastorello stated that while it was a possibility, Real Madrid was focused on signing Kylian Mbappé for the following year and did not want to spend money on a loan.
Pastorello also praised Lukaku's adaptation to Italy, stating that he has thrived in the Serie A and that his partnership with Antonio Conte has been successful at Napoli.
