Kenya's President Ruto Backs Arsenal, Sympathizes with Struggling Manchester United - AsianBookie News Kenya's President Ruto Backs Arsenal, Sympathizes with Struggling Manchester United
Saturday, October 25, 2025 - 13 hours ago

The President of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, is a long-time fan of the English football club Arsenal. He recently expressed his support for the team, saying they have a good chance of winning trophies this season. However, he also showed sympathy for their rivals, Manchester United, who are struggling at the start of the season. Ruto made these comments after receiving the Premier League trophy at a ceremony in Nairobi. The trophy is part of a tour of the 2025-26 Premier League trophy. The President acknowledged that Arsenal's fans have experienced heartbreak and near-misses over the past two decades, but he believes the team is now performing well.

"Kenya is a country that loves football," Ruto explained. "We don't just watch the Premier League; we live it, breathe it, and argue about it every weekend." He emphasized that people from different clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City, can feel the energy and excitement of football across the country.

Ruto expressed his pride in being an Arsenal fan and acknowledged that the team has not had an easy time in recent years. However, he believes that the team's style and spirit are now coming back. He encouraged other teams in the Premier League and across Europe to watch out for Arsenal, and he sympathized with Manchester United fans, who are struggling this season.

Arsenal is currently leading the Premier League table with 19 points from eight matches, while Manchester United is in ninth place with 13 points from the same number of games. Arsenal has won six games, drawn one, and lost one, while Manchester United has won four, drawn one, and lost three. The two teams have already played each other this season, with Arsenal winning 1-0.

Ruto also talked about Kenya's love for football and its talented players, including former Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama, who played for the Kenyan national team and has represented the country on the world stage. The President emphasized that his administration is committed to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for young people through sports academies, community facilities, and the creative economy.

Arsenal will play against Crystal Palace on Sunday, while Manchester United will face Brighton at home on Saturday.
